I remember the first time I cried on my yoga mat.

I walked into the studio with a brave face. I’d been having a rotten morning, but I was determined to lock it up.

But somewhere around Sun A, asana, as it tends to do, broke down whatever shaky barrier I was struggling to hold up between my spirit and my body and the tears began to flow. They dripped from my eyes, down my nose, and onto my mat. There may have been some snot involved, too.

Pretty.

Hey--yoga is beautiful, but it isn’t always pretty. Read more about Speaking Our Truths and Acting Ourselves

I love the holiday season. I love Christmas trees even though I never buy one. I love decorations although I never put mine up. I love holiday sweets even though I’m a terrible baker. And boy oh boy do I love Christmas music. I would play Christmas music all year long in classes if I could get away with it. Read more about Giving Back

It’s true; rock stars really do enjoy yoga. The practice, unfortunately, has gained a stereotype of attracting the free spirited hippies… but it’s time we put that notion to stop. Metal heads, yoga is for you, to be completely honest, yoga is for everyone.

On Sunday, December 7th, from 2:00pm – 3:00pm, Full Circle Yoga will be hosting a Heavy Metal Workshop. This will become a beautiful relationship of our mats and artists like Metallica. Owner, Erik Schnackenberg will host this event, looking to share his love of yoga and music with you.

I don’t work a traditional 9 to 5 job and I like that.  I don’t have a traditional 30 minute lunch break to pause from the working day and eat, and that can be a good and bad thing.  A lot of times I end up eating in between various tasks, like answering the phone, or running to and from meetings.  Some yogis are able to catch a yoga class during lunch, or step away from their desks to do some personal yoga.  I think that’s great, but that’s not what my day looks like, therefore, I try to infuse yoga into my day in a variety of ways. “A mother’s heart is a garden of love.”  I found these simple words painted on a glass stained magnet that was once on my Grandma’s refrigerator and has now made its way to my mom’s refrigerator. I’ve probably read it a million times in my life and at some point the words lost their meaning or maybe I didn’t acknowledge the meaning at all.  This weekend I felt drawn to the magnet as I was filling up a cup of water for my mom. There was something that resonated within me as I read the words out loud, “A mother’s heart is a garden of love.” I felt a warm feeling in the depth of my stomach.
